While our primary market is underprivileged and at-risk youth, Equinity welcomes all individuals desiring to further personal development through equine-assisted activities.
Because our goal is to first and foremost get underprivileged and at-risk youth involved in these programs, scholarships are available for those who would not be able to participate without assistance. For some programs, fees are waived entirely.
Participants learn essential skills of horsemanship such as grooming, handling, equine healthcare, feeding, stable chores, equine psychology, training from the ground, and training under saddle. The primary objective is learning horsemanship skills; however, there can be therapeutic benefits gained from interacting with horses. Horses are nonverbal creatures, mirroring our energy and emotions.

In order to effectively work with a horse, the handler must be confident and relaxed. Using the nonverbal nature and prey insticts of horses, participants can learn how their behavior and demeanor effect those they come in contact with and, ultimately, how to control themselves.
Some specific traits and skills that can be developed include:
More detailed information regarding how these traits and skills are developed is available in our brochure.
Facilitated by a team of mental health professional, equine specialist, and at least one horse, EAP is designed to use metaphors for real-life situations using horses as a tool. These activities are solely performed on the ground in an enclosed area and may or may not involve a specific task to be completed. This is a supplement to traditional talk therapy and can help achieve breakthroughs that may not necessarily occur in talk therapy.
Our EAP program is currently under development and will be available sometime in 2012. Check back frequently for status updates.
Similar to EAP, EAL also uses the same team of professionals, but focuses on using metaphors for educational and learning activities. This program is especially beneficial for corporate team-building exercieses and leadership training.
Our EAL program is currently under development and will be available sometime in 2012. Check back frequently for status updates.
